THERAFIRM BECAUSE LIFE IS ABOUT FEELING GOOD!

Trust Therafirm for all your therapeutic footwear needs!

ALL THERAFIRM compression garments are made with Micro-Cool. Micro- Cool is an agent that is added in the dye process that changes the aqueous nature of the fiber. It creates a wicking effect so moisture absorbs away from the patient’s body. Micro-Cool provides a comfortable coolness and contains an anti-microbial agent that inhibits bacteria and eliminates chronic foot odor. All Therafirm compression garments are LATEX-FREE.

What does gradient compression hosiery do?

Gradient compression stockings improve venous and lymphatic blood flow. Therafirm stockings are designed to deliver a controlled amount of pressure which is greatest at the distal end(ankle) of the garment and gradually decreases towards the proximal end (top) of the stocking. This gradient pressure promotes better venous blood flow which in turn helps to control swelling, varicosities, leg fatigue and other problematic leg conditions. Many brands of stockings advertised as support stockings are merely stretch nylon-not gradient compression- and therefore do not deliver the therapeutic benefits of gradient compression hosiery. Some of these non-therapeutic “support stockings” can even restrict blood flow and should be avoided.

Who should wear gradient compression stockings?

People who have or are experiencing any of the following conditions could benefit from wearing our gradient compression hosiery:

  • Tired, aching, fatigued legs
  • Swollen feet, ankles and legs
  • Mild to severe varicose veins
  • Chronic venous insufficiency
  • Venous stasis ulcerations
  • DVT/PTS
  • Expectant mothers
  • Stand or sit for long periods
  • Overweight
  • Family history of venous leg disorders
  • Lymphedema
  • Schlerotherapy

Many individuals who do not share any of the preceding conditions can also benefit from wearing Therafirm gradient compression stockings. Most people love the way their legs feel when wearing compression hosiery. Most people love the way their legs feel when wearing compression hosiery.

KEY FITTING ISSUES

Patients should be measured when they first get up in the morning. This helps prevent the fitter from measuring based upon the affected area’s circumference after swelling has occurred.
Measure the patient while he or she is standing. If the fitting can not take place before the patient has been on his/her feet for some time, the patient’s feet should be elevated for 15 minutes prior to taking the measurements.
Take snug measurements against the skin. Avoid measuring over socks or slacks. Never allow folds in stockings. Never remove any wound dressings.Socks must fit the shape of the foot. Loose socks cause bunching or gathering, creating a focal pressure. Socks should have even compression or elasticity so that the sock takes on the anatomical shape of the foot without high compression (biding points) that may create discomfort or circulation obstruction.
